The Science Of Narratology
I have titled, for the most appropriate designation of my endeavor, unto which this text must suffice, an adamant labor of unravelling,"The Science Of Narratology" however, there is no quintessential attribute, of this exquisite art. I cannot sustain its unequivocal magnitude with the simple locution of obtuse surmise, nor assign a linear subjective altitude, as to what is an adequate narration. This is not a discipline, nor an arithmetic measure, it is a treatise on well elected prose, and the dialect of fiction. In my youthful romance with this, subject, it has always bothered me, what exactly is the most crucial aspect of the story. The Red Herring? The audible strum of suspense bleeding fourth the music of ominous unease? Is it that cliffhanger, that leaves one chuckling with the tension of the unknown, and throbbing with unquenched desire? Is it perhaps the play of character, in that eloquent juxtaposition of the existential parable? Dear Lord will it ever be known to the heart, what the sleight of the wordsmith, truly captures in that wonder of fiction. Ah yes, I see it now, the Science of Narratology, has neither metabolism nor anatomy, it is an unblemished expression, of the authorly spirit, rather than a mere conduit of effect. The elements of the exquisite tale, are not to be gauged, with fumbling conjecture or the implausible pretense of grandiose philosophy. In my method of horror linguistics, I shall say for the nonce, that the syntax of the author's pen, and the etymology of its novel science cannot be simply deduced, to ordained calibre, nor the acceptable prerequisite.
